Xi arrives in Washington for state visit to the U.S. - On the afternoon of Sept. 23 (local time), President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington at the invitation of President Donald Trump. Trump and First Lady Melania offered a warm welcome, with military aircraft flying over in salute. The visit runs Sept. 23–25; the two heads of state have exchanged visits within half a year, a historic and milestone development.

Written remarks - "The world is developing and times are changing, but the historical logic of China and the U.S. living in peace has not changed, the shared aspiration of the two peoples for friendly exchanges has not changed, and the common expectation of the international community for the two countries has not changed."

Warm welcome from Trump - Trump hailed Xi as "a great leader" and described the moment as "a great moment," expressing his eagerness for an in-depth exchange of views to advance bilateral ties.

Letter to U.S. students before the visit - Xi replied to students from 10 U.S. universities who attended China-U.S. youth exchange activities, stressing that "Chinese and American youth live on the same planet and share the mission of the era," and encouraging them to become inheritors, defenders and promoters of China-U.S. friendship and cooperation.

Foreign media - Washington and Beijing have agreed to extend the trade truce for two more months.
