Representatives from the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and the Municipal Public Security Bureau attended the meeting. As one of the nation's largest motorcycle production bases-home to numerous vehicle and component manufacturers such as Beiyi, Loncin, Zongshen, Lifan, and Dayang-Chongqing signaled through this consultation that the local government intends to further ramp up support for the industry, promising a potentially more favorable policy environment.
Chongqing Adopts Differentiated Strategy for Motorcycle Exports: Latin America Accounts for 44.4%, with Mexico as the Top Single Export Market
According to a report by the *Shanghai Securities News* on August 28, Chongqing exported 3.385 million motorcycles in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 9.0%; notably, exports of electric motorcycles and mopeds surged by 130.5% year-on-year. Diverging from the national export pattern-which is dominated by the African market-44.4% of Chongqing's complete motorcycle exports were destined for Latin America. Mexico stands as the largest single export market for Chongqing motorcycles, with an export value of 1.687 billion yuan, representing a significant share of the city's total motorcycle exports. Chongqing enterprises have pursued a differentiated overseas expansion strategy, prioritizing the Latin American market while simultaneously deepening their presence in Africa and Southeast Asia.
